Mercedes, known as Mers, has nearly a decade of experience in business law and policy work. She thrives on tackling new projects and offering clients her unique perspective on business strategy and legal approach.
As one of AJA Law’s founding partners, Mers is in her element within the logistics and supply chain industry. She serves as the go-to advisor for a major multinational fast-moving consumer goods company, a local airline, and a global food & beverage company. Mers provides legal review and practical advice on commercial contracts such as ground transportation, handling and customs clearance, service level agreements, airline leases, manufacturing agreements, and investments. Her expertise in navigating the complex web of government permits and licenses makes her indispensable to her clients.
Driven by a passion for seeing the Philippines thrive, Mers has collaborated with international development partners like the World Bank Group and USAID. She has played a significant role in crafting and advocating for reform agendas on internet connectivity, working with key agencies like the Philippine Competition Commission, the Department of Information and Communications Technology, the Anti-Red Tape Authority, and the National Economic Development Authority. She has also worked with lawmakers to lobby for critical reforms.
As a co-managing partner, Mers oversees the firm’s policies, processes, hiring, and employee management.
Mers is always eager to learn and connect with those who match her mental energy and easy-going demeanor. She loves yoga, dogs, art, and occasionally enjoys spacing out under the sun.
